The Bahamas Department of Meteorology (BDM) formally acknowledges and confirms the designation by the Civil Aviation Authority Bahamas (CAAB) as the official Aviation Meteorological Service Provider for The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
This designation, issued under the framework of ICAO Annex 3 — Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation, affirms that BDM is the sole authoritative source of aviation weather intelligence for domestic and international airspace operations, including but not limited to:
- Aerodrome forecasts (TAF)
- Meteorological reports (METAR)
- Upper wind and temperature forecasts
- Pre-flight and en-route meteorological briefings
As the designated provider, BDM undertakes full operational and quality-assured responsibility for all aviation meteorological services, in strict compliance with:
- WMO Technical Regulations (WMO-No. 49)
- ISO 9001:2015/2026 Quality Management Systems
- ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security
- ISO 22301:2019 Business Continuity
- GBON National Contribution Plan (UN-SOFF 2025)
